Effective June 2026. OwnAm operates OwnAm Mortgage Quest and is the data controller for personal information you provide on this platform, in full compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
1. What we collect
Contact details, employer and income disclosures, NHF status, document uploads (ID, payslips, bank statements, employment letter, tax clearance, utility bill), housing literacy quiz answers, and platform activity.
2. Why we collect it
- To compute your Mortgage Readiness Score and category.
- To package your verified profile for mortgage partners — only with your explicit consent.
- To improve housing literacy content and platform features.
3. Partner sharing — opt-in only
Your data is shared with mortgage partners only after you toggle partner sharing consent. You can withdraw consent at any time from your dashboard.
4. Document storage and Security
Uploaded documents are stored in private cloud storage and accessible only by you, our verifier team, and partners you have authorised. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures (such as data encryption at rest and in transit) to safeguard your files.
5. Your rights under NDPA 2023
In accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the right to access, rectify, request erasure, object to processing, or request portability of your personal data. You may exercise these rights by emailing info@ownam.net. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
6. NDPC Compliance
OwnAm adheres to the principles of data protection set forth by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). We minimize collection to only what is necessary for calculating your readiness score and qualifying you for mortgage matching.
